I was born and raised in Fremont, California. I started fishing at the tender age of four. My mother and step dad took my siblings (two brothers and one sister) and I all the time on family trips. Out of the four kids, I'm the only one that caught the "fishing fever". Through the years, my best memories are out on the water, with my family, friends, and now my children. Living in this fast paced and stressful world, we all need a place the reconnects us to the peace of our childhood. For me, it's the entire environment. It can be like Antarctica or Africa, rain or shine, I am always ready to go. Fishing is the best of both worlds, because you get your peace and excitement at the same time. I can hardly describe what it feels like to feel your pole get hit so hard it almost flies into the water! But why it has become such an obsession for me goes deeper than all I have mentioned. It is now also my son's great passion. All men hope to have something to pass on to their children that will enrich them. I feel more pride when I see the joy in my little boy's face when he has mastered a new skill, or caught his biggest fish yet. Most of all, I am humbled by the fact that he is able to teach me things and will continue to excel at this sport as he grows. I am an admitted fishing addict, and know that my wife will have to pry my fishing pole out of my hand the day I die!
"Give a man a fish you feed him for one day, teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime."

I was born in San Francisco, CA and raised in the East Bay Area where I lived until I was 25. Most of my "younger" fishing days were spent fishing with my family on the Berkeley Pier, Point Pinole Pier and San Pablo Dam Reservoir. Later my time was devoted to fishing on the San Pablo Bay waters along with the Napa River primarily for stripers and sturgeon. In 2001, I moved to the Central Valley and have spent most of my time learning how to troll for Rainbow trout and Kokanee salmon. I have fished most of the "Mother Lode" lakes but my favorites are New Melones, Lake Tulloch and Lake Del Valle. I am currently learning new tips and tricks to stinging the stripers on the San Joaquin River and hope to get into hunting down big brown trout!

Jake Bunio is as passionate for trophy trout as they come. At the young age of 1 year old his grandfather, a highly decorated World War 2 Veteran taught him how to fool big fish. From trophy Largemouth Bass to the great German Brown Trout to Delta Striper, to you name it, Jake can catch them with the best of them. All through Jake’s childhood his grandfather and father would take him weekly to explore all the California lakes to see Jake's passions grow. It was truly amazing how this kid could stay on the water with no food. No one could hang with Jake, they would return to camp after a half day or a few hours, but not Jake. He wouldn’t return until he had the biggest fish we knew of to come out of the waterway or at least die trying. We would have to physically remove him to come home at times”, says Jake’s dad”. Jake has won first place in tournaments fishing for large Brown Trout in highly pressurized waters of his home state of California but his true passion is creating distinctive fishing lures and fooling big fish all by himself where there is no money at stake. All that is at stake is his own will to see the monsters of the deep in a very unsafe environment at times, battling through blizzards and white outs where these big wary monsters lurk and are active. Jake fishes were most men would stay at their home and enjoy their fire place. Jake has been known to risk his life year in and year out for the big boys in the Sierra Nevada’s and surrounding areas. Jake has created an exceptional fishing lure The Trophy Stick and we can expect a great future from him while he is in full force mode after state and world record trout and other species.
